The Organic Label Will Mean: No Cloned Animals, Period

Washington, April 17, 2007 - The National Organic Standards Board (NOSB), an expert advisory panel to the USDA’s National Organic Program, has made it clear that organic agriculture should not allow the use of cloned animals or their offspring in the production of organic food.  The NOSB voted at their spring meeting in Washington, DC to exclude cloned animals, their offspring, and any food products from cloned animals from the organic sector.

Washington, May 3, 2007 - A coalition of consumer, environmental, and animal welfare organizations today announced the submission of more than 130,000 comments to the Food and Drug Administration from consumers who oppose the Agency’s proposed plan to introduce food from cloned animals into the U.S. food supply.

Now the FDA, citing new data, expects to give its stamp of approval by the end of this year.
