Truth is all we need and to agree on that is all we need. Supplements is only one piece of the puzzle. What about food, processed food, organic food, drinks other than pure spring water, toothpaste, bathing products, and household cleaners. There is so much more we need to have the truth on..the only question is when will we receive it?
Consumers are largely kept in the dark about the potential health benefits of foods and supplements. Why? Because current law makes it illegal for food and supplement producers to share this information. In fact, the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act states that a drug is defined as that which is intended to cure, treat, mitigate, diagnose, or prevent disease conditions. Therefore, foods or dietary supplements found to be beneficial for health conditions are in the eyes of the Federal Regulators unapproved drugs.
How are we to take responsibility of our own individual/family health without the tools-in this case, the science behind supplements. So much of what lots of people eat really isn’t food. Not being “allowed” to know what is in what we eat is irresponsible, to say the least. The government giving protection, through “law” to manufacturers to keep vital information from our knowledge must be unconstitutional.
As a Natural Therapeutic Specialist of 26 years and a consumer of vitamins and supplements as well as someone who uses the mind as a tool in healthcare, I am in favor of full disclosure of information in our food, supplements. No pharmaceutical entity should be deciding laws on our healthcare, as that responsibility rests with individuals and families. I am in favor of educating the masses in simple common sense approaches to re-establish and maintain our inherent health. The FDA is operating out of ignorance and so are many consumers and politicians. Anything from Senator McCain’s influence with healthcare is not based in fact but greed. I hope the house can see through the pharmaceutical industries spin. The union of Concerned Scientists and Citizen’s for Health have the most up to date and accurate information.
